WZZS-FM 106.9 to Host 29th Annual Colgate Country Showdown
Date Set for August 14th!

Zolfo Springs, Florida (July 5, 2010) - The “Colgate Country Showdown” is coming to the Heartland Florida area Saturday, August 14, 2010. WZZS-FM more commonly known as “106.9 The Bull” will host the 29th annual edition of America’s Largest Country Music Talent Search and radio promotion at The Arbor Banquet Hall in Historic Downtown Arcadia, Florida. Over $200,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded nationwide along with $100,000 to the national winner, presented at the televised special.

Designed to find the most promising country music talent in America, the Colgate Country Showdown gives aspiring artists a chance to launch their professional careers. Thousands of performers compete annually for the Country Showdown title.

Each year, hometown contests sponsored by more than five hundred local radio stations across the country pave the road to stardom. Local winners advance to forty state contests where the prizes include $1,000 in cash and the opportunity to compete at one of the five regional contests in the fall. The five regional winners receive an expense-paid trip to the National Final to compete for the $100,000 and coveted National Title.

“The Bull’s Colgate Country Showdown gives local artists an opportunity to shine! We expect an excellent turnout of talented performers and receive support from the community to hold this competition annually,” said Carolyn Kneller, Promotions Director at 106.9 The Bull. “It is an exciting event that provides aspiring artists in our area the opportunity for local, state, regional, and national exposure while promoting a greater appreciation of country music. You never know who will appear on stage in this competition. Last year we had several well polished groups and artists. One of our contestants appeared on National Television in Season 9 of American Idol (Shelby Dressel, Avon Park). So we are excited to see who will grace our stage this year and we may catch a glimpse of the next big super star in The Bull's 2010 Colgate Country Showdown."

Open to vocal and/or instrumental performers, the “Colgate Country Showdown” welcomes individual acts or groups with up to seven members to compete. Acts also must not have performed on a record listed on the national record charts of Billboard, Radio and Records, or the Gavin Report within eighteen months preceding local competition. There is a $15.00 entry fee required of all contestants to begin the Colgate Country Showdown competitions, produced by participating country music radio stations such as 106.9 The Bull.

Auditions to find the top contestants will be held on Friday, August 13th. A completed entry form and $15 entry fee will be due at the audition. Contestants may download an entry form at www.bull.fm or forms will be available at audition. Top contestants to be determined by 5:00 PM Friday, August 13th.
